Bookstore

I bought a history book today.
It is a college textbook.

My background is limited.
I know so little about the Middle-east.

The music of the sitar and the poetry of Rumi
have opened my western eyes to see a broader view.

I also bought a little light reading.

Hi Jessica,
I did not know about Cocomartini. I will check it out. Thank you.
I like to buy locally whenever I can. My shopping was in the used bookstore. I am not taking a class just want to learn a bit of the "people" history of the Middle-east.
Best of luck to you!
Looking forward to reading your journal and getting to know you.

I know nothing about the east. What little I do know is what I have heard on the news or on documentaries.

I think I read the last book some time ago. Or maybe I just looked at it thinking I would purchase it.
Hmmmmmm

I really need a way to keep track of what I read. Do you have a list or a book that you write down what you read?

Dear Lisa,
When I began my study of the Middle-East I started as early in the recorded record as I could. Adding in the study of India as well. A natural histiry to start. Next I read about the ancient history.
Reading about Muhammad and the beginnings of Islam up to present day, gives me a better understanding of the people in this area of our world. So much has come into my life from this area, cotton and ginger, tea and sherbet and oil, just to name few influences.
I love learning the history of a place and the people.
I do have a journal I keep of some of the books I have read. Most often I buy my books so I can look through the book cases and see at a glance what I have already read. I have five or six books going at any given time. Always a couple of poetry books and some sort of natural history and interpretive history. I often will have a new novel going. Some books like "East Wind Melts the Ice" I re-read. East Wind is one I read the essay for the time period I am currently in. The Pillow Book is very nice for inspiring me to look at my world a bit differently. It has helped with the way I dove-tail the month, the season. I naturally make lists and now I am making lists about what I like about any given subject. I have a journal I keep that is a companion to The Pillow Book.
The Secret Language of Birds is very interesting. Easy to read and is full of myths and folklore. It will go in my library after I finish. I will use it for reference.
I also like skill books. So I have a photgraphy book I read and a computer program book.
I am in the classroom of life!

You are a much more diverse reader than I am. I still need to keep a list of books read some place. I hate to get to the store and purchase a book I have already read. My mind is like a sieve. Sad but true.

P.S. I usually have several books going at one time too. Two or three maybe.

I liked Snowflower and the Secret Fan. I just know you would like it too.

If you would like for me to send it to you I would. I know no one else that would like to read it. You can email me your address if you would like. My email address is on my profile page.

Dear Lisa,
I like everything! I read novels too fast. I gobble them right up. The history books take me awhile so I always have a few of them about. Learning about different cultures is very interesting to me. I love natural history the most. When we travel I like to know the people history and the natural history. Biographies are fun too.
My book journal is mostly what I am doing on book club or if I am reading a book and letting it go.
I would love to be in a book exchange with you! That would be so fun.
"you've got mail"
Thank you. I am excited just thinking about this.
If anyone else wants to join in book exchange let me know!
Oh joy!
